Last wiring

Finally sand was found and we had to hire 10 youth from the village to work in the wash rocks and sand, a long and tedious, even painful given the weather. Three days of work have been necessary for the task to be performed and then the water was flowing out, but certainly still cloudy in about a month the system will take office at full speed.
A big thank you to our friend, Bunthy, headmaster of wood for his invaluable collaboration.
Special thanks to Mr. HO our favorite taxi speaking for his help in this endeavor.
The village chief and the head of the town we have the honor to visit us to see this system work, they were very interested and we were congratulated for their work.
We took the opportunity to share a meal with them French, the menu, sausages, pâté, French wine delicious omelets and our head cook since the departure of Mary Claire.
During the meal we provided $ 350 USD which followed at 150 USD, the head of the county, to finance the dam, then we told our hosts that we'll probably be able to fund further work, namely 2000 USD once again that the sum will be held in France. A big thank you to our donors who helped launch this vital work for the village. A sum of 1000 euros has already been found in a few days.
Amanda has performed feats in the field of plumbing and electrical connections in the past machines. Didier
and Simon were able to finish the latest achievements in new machines, and aspiration of the workshop.
A big thank you to our entire team (40 degrees in the shade ... ...) has managed to adapt and find his rhythm of work ... and napping. Denis
meanwhile worked mainly on the draft water treatment and had to move heaven and earth to find the necessary materials. More links forged with local authorities allow us to consider extending the school that will become necessary in the future, but for this we will need new collaborations Local.
We have to thank Ludo for his dedication to the school, Stephen, who left us for France, but had to take a week of forced vacation in Bangkok.
Through friendships as woven summon Simon, one of the teachers, we were invited to a school in a neighboring village. We were surprised to receive an extremely warm welcome. The teachers and director, English, we have long presented challenges and objectives of their work. Our students were able to take advantage of courses and wished Ms. MOUNAL deliver some presents to children. We are left with deep desire to help one way or another.
Tonight we received the Unexpected Resort Hotel in beautiful surroundings in the middle of a forest of palm by Jacques, the director and his team to celebrate 20 years of Claire. We will be joined by Jocelyne Marie Laure and Daniel met in three French Phnom Penh who came to the school of wood and we were pleased to present the students and our achievements.
Tomorrow Saturday night we are invited by the alumni of the French school of Descartes Phnom Penh to attend a charity dinner for ESK.
During the evening Denis has set up a videoconference with the general council of the allies in a meeting called MAGMA. Straight from ATHANOR in the town of Montlucon, several teams from different parts of the planet will be connected through the Internet and present their work and projects. These different associations are all supported by the General Council of the combine. This meeting is very important for Denis who is keen to thank the President of the General Council of the combine and his team of international service for their valuable support to the association Smiles. We just hope not to be betrayed by the Internet connection.
Finally we note that the return flight is confirmed and our nurse Mary returned to France without problem by the same company as ours. A priori, this return should be okay. As a precaution Denis was still delivered to the embassy and met with the Consul, who confirmed the resumption of regular flights from Cambodia. Finally

entire team sincerely thanks Mr. DEMANGE headmaster of the school city of Presles TRUCHON VIDAL Madam DEPUTY headmaster of the Lycée Albert LONDON that allowed the whole team and especially our three young Amanda, Claire and Simon to participate in a unique human adventure. They never demerits.

Denis, Didier and Mary already in France.

The second week ends ...

sand washing

Difficult week for setting up the system for water treatment. Many shops closed for the Khmer New Year, the long and tedious washing of sand and gravel. And finally a first choice Sandy too late! No problem: 2 m3 washed sand which mobilized the whole world for three days knocked down in less than two hours.
Big dilemma: how to find sand on available and appropriate, during the holidays? Denis has mobilized all its contacts in Cambodia, has returned twice PhnomPehn visited sites of water treatment and finally found our ideal sand!
Now time is running out. Fortunately the other work involved have taken the lead:
- the layout of the plumbing is complete
- support the new aspiration is completed (welded with local material!)
- the power cables for pumps are drawn and installed.

We had the pleasure to participate in the Khmer New Year celebrations in nearby villages. Great moments. Thank you to the villagers for their hospitality!

The cook of the school is on holiday ... then a special dedication to Claire and her delicious fries.

This weekend the team traveled to Angkor to visit its beautiful temples.

Urgent: need funds for the construction of a dam

I would relay the message I just received.

Denis Brunet was asked by the Mayor of the village to support the construction of a dam, essential to farmers in the village can grow rice in this period of extreme drought. I will forward his request, which is very urgent, and an explanation of the situation.

Virginia Salmin

NEED WATER FOR RICE GROWING IN THE VILLAGE OF Thebes

Cambodia is not immune to the drought situation in South Asia this time, which currently affects the very hard rice. In a country where agriculture accounts for 29% of gross domestic product and nearly 59% of the population depends directly on this area, drought can quickly turn into disaster. Here, Water management is an important issue.

SMILES The team currently deployed in the province of Kompong Speu in school wood ESK has been contacted by November DUM commune chief of VOA SAR SISTER SAT village chief of Thebes to seek assistance in the construction of a dam that will allow villagers to regulate water supply rice fields nearby. Furthermore, this dam will also provide access to the rice fields with vehicles which is not currently the case.
total is 20 hectares of rice fields that are now dry because of the climatic situation This month of April (day 45 degrees and no rain since last season). According to meteorologists, the rains will not appear before May 20
So we went there with the whole team to understand the situation and talk to the villagers. The dam will be of a length of 17 meters and 5 meters wide. This will be done in earth dam. The project is a perfectly reasonable size and it is vital for local people. Without it, dozens of families will find themselves disadvantaged because they can not plant rice, the only means of subsistence ...
This construction will require the mobilization of 3000 USD. The head of the village collected 500 USD to start the construction but we had to help up to 500 USD for the construction could not begin without the contribution of USD 1000. This money was taken from the current mission and we will be unable to give more because our budget does not allow it.
The village chief had asked the part of international NGOs working in Cambodia for financial assistance, an undertook to construct the concrete seawall at a cost of about 7000 USD, but eventually withdrew from the project judging the project is too small and too rewarding "...
That's why we allow ourselves to look to you to help us meet the shortfall (2000 USD to finish the site) so that people can quickly resume work in rice fields.

Denis Brunet

The situation before the start of construction: the rivers are completely dry

second week of work, things are accelerating

I resumed the pen "to give the new team Smiles, who is currently unable to communicate via the Internet ( Internet cafes are closed for New Year)
Denis has kept me a report very specific actions taken since the beginning of the week, and frankly, they do not stop these kids!
At the workshop, both machines were finished routed to connect and they work very well, all under the responsibility of Didier, the man for the job. Didier and Simon also produced the support suction system, ready for use.
Denis and Amanda were particularly busy in the water purification system early in the week. The structures are mounted, it remains to be put into operation and take tests. But there they are facing difficulty they had not considered: finding sand "washed" to insert in the filtration tanks for all stores and warehouses are in "standby" for the Khmer New Year. The site may take a few days late ... Not to waste time, they also worked on changing some of the plumbing in order to conform to the system. At
electricity, things are moving too slowly, Claire and Simon drew additional lines in the workshop. For
cause of great weekend (for the Khmer New Year, the world stops turning for a few days ...) they no longer cook at school, then Mary has swapped his smock nurse cons of the cap range, and so must be flexible in some cases! Some school students also left their families and never come back in over a week.
Some pictures of all these advancements will come as soon as possible.
