Back at home!
40 degrees in the shade, climatic conditions were harsh, but the team has faced and adapt, to complete this mission. The memories are many and everyone agrees that this adventure will be forever etched in our memories.
The Icelandic volcano was calm again and everyone was able to reach his home after 3 weeks on the school yard timber ESK Cambodia.
It is time for me to get the first results of the 2010 mission conducted jointly by the city school and the association Presles SMILES.
We undertook a first time on a maintenance mission equipment installed a year ago: Didier, Claire and Simon have perfectly fulfilled this part of the contract.
The second point of the mission was to operationalize the three machines we had shipped in March 2010, namely a jointer planer, a table saw and an aspiration: these materials are now in perfect working condition. Regarding electricity, we went beyond our expectations since Amanda has had time to re-wire a table that had large defects.
Filtering well water was also included in the program 2010.Malgré the cons-time due to the quality of the sand filter, we successfully completed this project. We owe this success to our friends Bunthy, Ludo, and Mr. Ho on site and to our friend Olivier in France, which has put us back on track. We are now waiting in the first few days of potability tests to be conducted with the Pasteur Institute in Phnom Penh, watch this ...
This mission was also an opportunity to open the eyes of our youth on the status of French poorest children in Cambodia, and we spent an afternoon with children at the orphanage Kais Village in the province of Kirirom. We also thank their leaders for having authorized this visit.
The last evening of the mission, we were invited to dine with former students of Lycée Descartes in Phnom Penh, with Ms. Kenory You, President of ESK and Project Director, School of the Woods' arrival from Paris especially for the event. During this evening we had the opportunity to make a report via video-conference live our mission of Magma Montluçon forum, organized by the Conseil Général de l'Allier. So far and yet so close ...
A small nod to Jean Baptiste, manager of the Guest House Siem Reap The Rega, Christian the Guest House Oriental Gardens, and Jacques de Hotel Resort The unexpected, for their warm hospitality.
Regarding the rest of the project, SMILES will continue its engagement with school wood ESK. We are working already with ESK to build the new project for 2011 which will cover inter alia the sustainability of the school, details will be communicated in a few weeks.
Thanks to the whole team who worked hard to successfully achieve the objectives.
The president, Denis Brunet.
