Fiddler on the Roof acrylic on canvas - 2009 - 24 "x 36" series "Special Edition" www. alec5.com |
first canvas in collaboration with my son, then aged 5 years (and a half, we would argue!).
There is a lesson freedom. For him, obviously because power (finally) let go on a real canvas is quite an experience. But one lesson of freedom especially for me. To see him go, a little shy at first, then no inhibition thereafter, realizing perhaps that the medium and the surface allows much more than it seems, was inspiring.
We painted simultaneously on both, it's me who made me feel a little upset by his creative impulses. But we found a respect for our actions and intentions that has been refined with the execution of this painting.
It is something "Chagalesque" in his sky. He thought then the memory of this gigantic mural on the ceiling of the Opera Garnier in Paris, which had so fascinated?
His ghostly, its sun and the green roof that I just outlined, there is a world that is hers but tries to lead the way to "daddy" because he saw me painting has always been. The generosity, enthusiasm and joy he had to paint was contagious.
